Energy generation and storage

Ready for the future

Energy generation and storage

The desired transformation in energy generation represents a significant technical challenge, as the sole use of green energy from photovoltaics, hydropower and wind power is not sufficient to cover current energy requirements. In order to use surplus energy effectively, high-quality intermediate storage systems are needed to provide the energy generated in line with demand. The demand for storage solutions such as batteries, flywheels and hydrogen cells is increasing. These technologies require vacuum-assisted production processes.

One example: lithium-ion batteries are at the heart of electromobility. They currently have the highest energy density compared to other battery types and enable acceptable ranges. During their production, central processes are carried out under vacuum conditions.
